Tooling Warranty & Maintenance
At Aprios, we know your mold is a critical investment. That’s why every tool we build is backed by a clear warranty and supported with preventative maintenance guidelines that keep your production running smoothly.
Warranty Coverage by Tool Class
Our warranty covers normal wear and tear for the following number of cycles (per cavity):
| SPI Mold Classification | Molding Cycles | Production Level |
|---|---|---|
Class 101 |
1,000,000+ cycles |
Extremely high-volume production with tight tolerances and complex part designs. |
Class 102 |
< 1,000,000 cycles |
Medium-to-high volumes, balancing durability with excellent surface finish. |
Class 103 |
< 500,000 cycles |
Medium runs where reliable performance and efficiency are key. |
Class 104 |
< 100,000 cycles |
Suited for lower production volumes and pilot projects. |
Class 105 |
< 500 cycles |
Intended for prototypes or very limited runs. |
Keeping Your Tool Running Strong
Warranty coverage depends on proper care. Preventative maintenance is the best way to extend the life of your mold and protect your investment. Here’s what we recommend:
Everyday Care
-
Clean parting surfaces, cores, and cavities with a soft cloth and mild solvent to remove buildup.
-
Bring molds back to room temperature before storage to prevent rust.
-
Drain and clear water lines after use to avoid corrosion.
-
Apply fresh grease to moving components and a light rust preventative before storage.
Regular Inspections
-
Every 20,000 cycles – Inspect cavities, vents, and ejector pins for wear.
-
Every 100,000 cycles – Fully disassemble the mold, check all components, and replace worn seals or pins.
-
Every 250,000 cycles – Perform major maintenance: check leader pins and bushings, descale water lines, and restore cavity surfaces to spec.
Mold Maintenance Matters
Your mold's performance is directly tie to your production success. With Aprios, you get:
- Consistent part quality run after run.
- Longer tool life, maximizing your return on investment.
- Fewer production interruptions, keeping timelines on track.
We’re committed to building tools that last — and giving you the confidence that your project is in good hands from the first shot to the millionth.
Repairs Beyond Normal Wear
While our warranty covers standard wear within each tool class, some situations require additional investment to restore the tool. These include:
Component replacement beyond wear limits
Such as ejector pins, seals, or springs that have failed prematurely.
Surface restoration
Polishing or re-texturing required because of scratches, dents, or corrosion not tied to normal production.
Engineering changes
Any modifications to accommodate new part designs or material changes.
When these issues arise, Aprios will:
- Evaluate the tool and identify the required repairs.
- Provide a detailed quote outlining costs and lead time.
- Gain your approval before any repair or replacement work begins.
This ensures you stay in control of both budget and timeline, while still getting your tool back into production as quickly as possible.
